Referendum Question: Vote no to KSA fee increases!
* In order to vote for Rita, write her full name on the ballot.
Unfortunately I cannot endorse a full-scale either the RAF (Reduce All Fees) Party or the Student Movement Party. Neither have promised to roll back the outrageous pay increases that the RAF brought in this year (just under $1,000 every two weeks for the President and VPs; just under $1500 for Campus Directors but hardly nothing for Members-At-Large) or undo the undemocratic bylaw changes that were made. And neither party seems to be prepared to try to position the KSA for long-term growth. I've also heard that the Student Movement Party wants to eliminate Surrey Campus Council altogether, meaning Surrey would have no direct representation at the KSA. This is a travesty, because Surrey is our largest campus and will most probably reach a population of 10,000 students by 2015.
Please note that this isn't an attack on any one individual in any of the parties, as there are some good people running in all of the parties. Rather it's just my assessment of their ideas as I've heard them, as well as an assessment of their performance over the last year. In the end, I feel that as a student, the KSA would be best represented by Independent and CSI: Common Sense Initiative candidates.

4. Is it Reduce all Fees or Raise all Fees?
Posted: January 17, 2006
Can they make up their mind? In 2004 the RAF (Reduce All Fees) Party was born, and promised to reduce all fees. Now they Want to Raise Your KSA Fees. They make it look great but in reality, here are the facts:
In short, it's a system that ensures no accountability. Unless you are in a one-credit course or less (who is?), your fees will increase from anywhere between approximately 4% to 66%! At least that's a little lower than their original plan to raise fees that they were going to try to ram through last fall, which would've seen students pay an increase of anywhere beween 15% to 700%. Here it is:
The simple truth: There are more fair ways to increase fees than the RAF plan. SO VOTE NO TO THE RAF FEE INCREASE!

5. Is there really a new face to the KSA?
Posted: February 7, 2006 (Updated: March 20, 2006)
In a number of February 6, 2006 interviews with the Kwantlen Chronicle, President-elect Danish Butt was quoted as saying:
"This is a new RAF party, this is a new look, and hopefully under my leadership we can turn this place around," he said.
Here's the real truth... the following document presents a listing of the newly elected officials, comparing the positions they "won" in January 2006 to the positions they held in 2005. This listing does not include a listing of KSA staff members.
Students should be able to decide for themselves whether or not this is a new RAF party.
