Steve Lee lobbies Kwantlen Board to not raise fees...
Posted: March 19, 2006 @ 8:47 pm
At the Wednesday, March 15, 2006 Kwantlen University College Board of Governors meeting, Kwantlen student and former student representative on the Kwantlen Board of Governors Steven Lee, distributed to a number of members the following package:
And on Sunday, March 19, 2006, Steven e-mailed the package to the rest of the Kwantlen Board as well as to the following groups:
- The Kwantlen University College Senior Administration;
- The Kwantlen University College Education Council;
- The Kwantlen Faculty Association;
- Select Kwantlen University College Deans, Faculty and Staff;
- The Kwantlen Chronicle; as well as
- Some Kwantlen students.
The package includes a cover letter asking the Board of Governors to hold off on implementing the KSA fee, based on the Board's powers under Section 1(b), 19, and 21 of the College and Institute Act of British Columbia, as the legitimacy of the new fee is in dispute. It also includes a copy of the Kwantlen Student Association's Ombudsperson's Report concerning the legitimacy of the Spring 2006 General Election.
It is hoped that this package will postpone the KSA's attempt to raise fees, at least for the Summer and Fall 2007 semesters, while concerned students look at implementing legal options for resolving this situation.

Nevertheless, I will continue to lobby and keep the Board of Governors informed about the alleged corruption and questionable actions of the Kwantlen University College Student Association.
