What is Bicycle Identification?
Bicycle Identification is offered to anyone who wishes to have their bicycle engraved with their Drivers Licence Number.
A Bicycle Identification sticker is also placed on the bicycle to show that it has been engraved.
Engraved bicycles are difficult to dispose of and are easily traced.
How do I get it done?
A form is given out to the owner of the bicycle; however, if a person is under the age of sixteen, an Authorization Form must be filled out by a parent or guardian before a Station can engrave the bicycle.
A copy of the form is located here.
How can it help me?
The information on the completed form will greatly assist you in filing a police report if the bicycle is lost or stolen, and it will increase your chances of having the bicycle recovered.
The completed form should be kept in a safe place and be readily accessible should the bicycle be lost or stolen (Please note that no copies of the form are retained by anyone connected with this program including station volunteers or the police - the responsibility for the safe keeping of this form is placed upon the bicycle owner).
How much does it cost?
Only donations are accepted for the Bicycle Identification service. A $3.00 amount is suggested by the Community Police Station to offset the costs of this program. However, no person shall be refused this service.
