steve lee's what the darkness doesn't know

familiar aching sounds

of walking out the door
and keys hitting the wall
chipping drywall

lust dies and jokes around
you scream again as your forgetting
that she’s only human too

you scream again and seconds
later hit with words to the point
to the point

shouting out of laughter
out of lust out of rage

shouting out of fear
out of crass out of greed

shouting out of love as
hilarity abounds with teasing moments
and pointing fingers and glancing eyes

quick and full of life you laugh again and seconds
later words hit to the point
they hit to the point

smashing through Gyprock
Plywood Lumber Stone and Concrete

as fists bleed and I crumble down
to my knees – hands running through my
hair – clenched and grief

frustration pulling at all ends of my
soul that burns with rage
