personal poetry
steve lee's what the darkness doesn't know
Untitled No. 2

broke into my mind
and stole my memory
as I pull another
long black strand of hair
from my pillow - the kind
that got in the way
of our kisses on those
long, hot summer nights.

Sara, I want to slide up
inside you and for hours
on end enjoy you
screaming my name, your
hands across my neck
and down my back.

Embrace me Sara and
drench me in your
passion, unforgiving
of the dreams we so
desperately try to shatter.

And there it is - that noise
rises up from the mountain tops
Like Moses coming down with
his laws bent to change the
world - but not us.

(c) April, 2000, Steven H. Lee
